In Nairobi, Accra and Dakar, a small but stubborn cohort of editors is betting on paper. Their argument is not nostalgic. Print, they say, forces a discipline that the feed erodes: an editor must choose what fits on a front page.
Why it works
The economics are lean — small runs, subscriptions, a single advertiser who believes in the project. The readership is narrow but loyal, and that loyalty is what the digital attention market cannot manufacture.
